How do I create my first story?
From the home screen, tap "Create a Story" or "Tell Me a Story." Choose your child's character — name, type, skin tone, hair color, and any pet or sidekick — then pick an adventure or tap "Surprise Me!" Tap "Create My Story" and we'll generate a fully illustrated, narrated story in about a minute.
How does the voice entry mode work?
Tap "Tell Me a Story" on the home screen, then tap the microphone button and speak naturally — for example, "Tell me a story about Maya and her golden retriever Bruno who go on a space adventure." The app listens, transcribes your request, and automatically builds the story. Tap the mic again when you're done speaking.
What is Surprise Me!?
Tap the "Surprise Me!" button on the Create Story screen and we'll randomly pick a unique adventure for your child — from enchanted forests to underwater kingdoms to time-traveling mysteries. Tap "Roll again" to get a different one. Every night can be a completely new adventure.
How long does it take to generate a story?
Story text and narration typically generate in 10–20 seconds. Illustrations take a bit longer — usually 30–60 seconds total as all six scenes are created. You'll see a live progress indicator while your story is being built.
The illustrations look different from each other. What can I do?
Our system uses a character reference image to keep your child's character consistent across all six illustrations. For best results, be as descriptive as possible — include hair color, skin tone, and specific details about any pets or companions. The more detail you provide, the more consistent the illustrations will be.
How do I restore my Pro subscription?
Go to the Settings tab in the app and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used when you originally subscribed.
What is My Story Tonight Pro?
Pro unlocks unlimited story creation, full illustrated stories, narrated read-aloud, voice entry, Surprise Me! adventures, and the full character builder. Available as a monthly, annual, or one-time lifetime purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription?
iPhone/iPad: Open Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions > My Story Tonight > Cancel Subscription.
Android: Open the Google Play Store > tap your profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > My Story Tonight > Cancel. You'll keep Pro access through the end of your billing period.
Is the content appropriate for young children?
Yes. Every story is generated with child-appropriate, age-safe content. All stories are bedtime-friendly — warm, imaginative, and always with a happy ending. There are no ads, no social features, and no in-app purchases targeting children directly.
Are my child's stories saved?
Generated stories, illustrations, and audio are saved locally on your device. They are not stored on our servers. If you delete and reinstall the app, previously generated stories cannot be recovered. We recommend keeping regular iCloud (iOS) or Google (Android) device backups.
Is my data private?
Yes. We never collect your name, email, or personal information. Story requests are routed through our secure backend to generate your story and are not stored afterward. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
