The Short Version
- Stories are generated fresh each time — we don't store them on our servers
- We never collect your name, email, or any personal contact information
- Voice recordings are transcribed and immediately discarded — never stored by us
- Story requests are sent to our secure backend only to generate your story, then discarded
- The only data that leaves your device is for story generation (Anthropic), illustrations (OpenAI), narration (OpenAI), and subscriptions (RevenueCat)
- We don't use advertising or analytics SDKs
- We never knowingly collect data from children — the app is for parents to use on behalf of their child

Data Stored on Your Device
The following information is saved locally on your device only:
- Story preferences — character names, appearance choices, and adventure selections you enter when creating a story
- Generated stories — story text, illustrations, and audio saved to your device after generation
MK Ideas operates a backend proxy to securely route requests to AI providers. This proxy does not store your story content, character details, or any personal information after your request is fulfilled.
Data That Leaves Your Device
Story Generation (Anthropic Claude)
When you create a story, the character details and adventure you describe are sent through our secure proxy to Anthropic's Claude AI to generate the story text. No identifying information about you or your child is transmitted — only the creative parameters you choose. Story content is not stored by MK Ideas after delivery.
Illustrations (OpenAI DALL-E / gpt-image-1)
Story scene descriptions are sent to OpenAI's image generation API to produce illustrations. These prompts contain only creative/descriptive content and no personally identifiable information. Images are returned to your device and not retained by MK Ideas.
Narration (OpenAI Text-to-Speech)
The generated story text is sent to OpenAI's text-to-speech API to produce the narrated audio. The text is used solely for audio synthesis and is not stored by MK Ideas after delivery to your device.
Voice Entry (OpenAI Whisper)
If you use the voice entry feature, your audio recording is sent through our secure proxy to OpenAI's Whisper API solely to convert your speech to text. The transcription is returned to your device and the recording is not stored by MK Ideas or linked to your identity in any way.
Subscriptions (RevenueCat)
If you subscribe to My Story Tonight Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple or Google. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device/user ID and your App Store or Play Store receipt to validate your subscription status. MK Ideas never receives your payment card information.
Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information. We have no user accounts. We do not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or crash reporting tools of any kind.
Children's Privacy
My Story Tonight is designed to be used by parents and caregivers on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Character names and descriptions entered in the app are used solely to generate a story and are not stored or linked to any individual. The app is rated 4+ and all generated content is designed to be age-appropriate for young children.

Data Deletion
Stories and illustrations generated by the app are stored locally on your device. You can delete all data at any time by deleting the app. There is no account to close because no account is ever created.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
